UNDERSTANDING THE TONGUES OF THE SPIRIT

Updated: Dec 4, 2021

1 Corinthians 14:4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

Apostle Paul did not walk with Jesus Christ in his time of ministry but he could make exploit in the kingdom of God. Apostle Peter approved Paul’s letter because he was full of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit directed Paul to preach and deliver the Gentiles because he was full of the Holy Spirit.

Gentiles were deep in sin and most of them were idol worshippers. Their heart was not circumcised with the gospel and because the Holy Spirit was upon Apostle Paul, He could preach to the Gentiles with no fear. Paul said to the church in Corinth.

1 Corinthians 14:4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue EDIFIETH HIMSELF; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

  • When we pray in tongues, our spirit receives edification.

  • When we pray in tongues, we grow in the wisdom and the knowledge of God.

  • When we pray in tongues, the Holy Spirit empowers us.

  • When we pray in tongues, our spiritual senses sharpen.

  • When we pray in tongues, the prophetic gift within our spirit activates.

  • When we pray in tongues, we pray according to the will of God.

  • When we pray in tongues, the Holy Spirit prays through our spirit.

  • When we pray in tongues, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us.

  • When we pray in tongues, it signifies the Holy Spirit baptism.

  • When we pray in tongues, we speak divine mysteries.

Remember, we can also sing, worship, teach, preach and praise in tongues because it is a divine language for spiritual Christians. This is what Paul said.

1 Corinthians 14:18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

The Holy Spirit could use Apostle Paul because he used the power of tongues. He taught, worshipped and prayed in tongues more than all the Apostles. His ministry was very fruitful because he prayed according to the will of God through tongues speaking. Persecution and afflictions could not stop Apostle Paul because he prayed in tongues more than all the Christians in his time of ministry.

  • Why are you doubting the power of tongues?

  • Are you doubting tongues speaking because of your church doctrine?
